What does it take to win a Super Bowl? Luck, hard work and, these days, a good set of headphones. Big ones. Authoritative-looking. Usually good for one or two quick rips off the head for dramatic effect when the ref makes a close call. The headset worn in the National Football League today is the cornerstone of a communications network radiating from the head coach to his assistant coaches, each of them feeding a conversation that builds fresh intelligence as the game unfolds. The professional headsets aren’t cheap, but the Minnesota company that provides NFL teams with headsets now has made a simplified version that it hopes to market to high school programs.
