RTS is pleased to announce that Jeff Berryman, Senior Scientist with Bosch Security Systems, Inc., Communications Systems Division, will present his paper “The Open Control Architecture” at the NAB 2013 Broadcast Engineering Conference on Sunday, April 7, 2013 (room S227, Las Vegas Convention Center).
Open Control Architecture (OCA) is a communications protocol standard under development for control and monitoring of devices in professional media networks of 2 to 10,000 nodes. OCA is designed to be a flexible public standard with a long service life in ordinary and mission-critical applications.
The paper describes the range of use cases which OCA aims to address, summarizes OCA's key technical features, provides an update on its standardization status, and suggests opportunities for participation in further OCA development
.
Developed over the last 20 months by the OCA Alliance, a collaboration of nine audio manufacturers, the current version of OCA is now on an AES standards track, listed as AES project X210. When the standard is complete, it is hoped that OCA will find broad acceptance in the media systems industry, opening a new era in interoperable control of devices from numerous manufacturers.
