On September 9, 2017, with 102,700 people attending the game at Texas A&M’s Kyle Stadium, the new ROAMEO cellular DECT-based wireless intercom system from RTS performed flawlessly.
There were a total of seven access points on the system, with 16 beltpacks. Six access points were on the field and the seventh was in the entry tunnel from the end zone.
A feature the users loved was that one button on each beltpack was used to trigger connectivity to two-way radios, meaning the staff only needed to carry ROAMEO and didn’t have to wear an additional two-way radio.
ROAMEO was used by the football production team and also served as a feed to the SEC and ESPN from the control room, for critical communications during the game broadcast.
With potential interference from 100,000 cell phones, two-way radios and microwave ovens preparing game-time snacks, ROAMEO took everything in its stride and never faltered.
ROAMEO is ready for prime time!
