- RTS delivers unique intercom system across multiple local stations
- Ensuring smooth communication with superior sound
- Streamlining operations with seamless communication across departments and local stations
The Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is one of four major national South Korean television and radio networks. Established in 1961, MBC consists of a network of 18 regional stations and ten subsidiaries. With the biggest broadcasting building in the country, MBC needed a reliable intercom system to meet the requirements of complex configurations for broadcasting production and transmission – and installed an RTS intercom system.
With operations across various local stations, the main intercom system at MBC’s Sang-am HQ in Seoul had to be connected to MBC Dream Center in Ilsan (Ilsan Digital Production Center) and other MBC offices. A total of 416 ports were required. This meant a complex yet flexible solution that could meet all requirements was needed. The proposed solution from systems integrator Hanynag Electronics included an RTS intercom system consisting of multiple ADAM (Advanced Digital Audio Matrix) frames using TBX optical fiber connections between the frames. In addition, the system had to include a large-scale VOIP solution in order to connect to 18 other MBC local stations. RVON capable keypanels installed in each regional station are connected to RVON cards in the central intercom matrix in Seoul using the IP infrastructure.
The installed solution helps to overcome the geographical distance between the various MBC local stations. The three frame ADAM matrices can be controlled by up to 30 different administrators. Using RVON-equipped keypanels, MBC now enjoys reliable long distance communication with low maintenance costs. This solution additionally ensures smooth communications across all MBC local stations with high-quality sound.
