Case Study: First European deployment of RVOC by ATM System

Overview
In a high-stakes, real-time broadcast environment, seamless and agile intercom communication is critical. ATM System, the first company in Europe to deploy RVOC, achieved just that during a high-profile live football production. In collaboration with PAWLAKI Pro Audio, the team leveraged RTS’s innovative RVOC technology to build a reliable, mobile-friendly, and resilient communication system.
Learn how ATM System used a hybrid configuration combining RTS KP-series panels and RVOC Edge to overcome unpredictable network conditions and rapidly shifting IP environments.
The Challenge
Live sports production demands flawless, real-time coordination across geographically dispersed teams. ATM System needed a solution that could:
- Operate in a decentralized configuration using mobile and satellite connections
- Adapt to dynamic IP conditions in real time
- Support quick on-site deployment with minimal hardware
- Ensure redundancy and robust coverage across all production roles
The Solution: A Two-Site RVOC Deployment
On-Site Stadium Setup:
- Two KP-4016 keypanels were used:
- Panel 1 handled comms with commentators
- Panel 2 coordinated with camera operators
- Both were connected using line outputs and AUX inputs, then linked to the internet via Starlink satellite.
- RVOC Edge mobile apps connected two assistants and an engineer via 4G/5G mobile networks.
- IP address changes at each reboot were handled by manually adjusting configurations using IPedit, ensuring uninterrupted comms.
- A backup panel was deployed in response to a temporary signal issue, quickly resolved with remote RTS engineering support.
ATM HQ Remote Production Setup:
- One KP-series panel was used by the sound engineer.
- Three RVOC Edge users joined remotely:
- Replay Operator
- Graphics Specialist
- Technical Director
- Devices connected via Wi-Fi, enabling clear, delay-free communication.
Results
- Seamless Communication: RVOC’s flexibility overcame inconsistent public IPs and varying connection types.
- Cost-Effective & Scalable: Teams connected via mobile devices, minimizing additional hardware needs.
- Redundant & Modular Design: RTS architecture ensured failover capability and real-time adaptability.
ATM System’s football broadcast marked a milestone as Europe’s first deployment of RTS RVOC, showcasing the strength of RTS hybrid intercom solutions in dynamic environments.
Thanks to the passionate advocacy of engineers like Łukasz Starakiewicz-Zawiślak and the collaborative spirit of PAWLAKI Pro Audio, the project demonstrated how mission-critical communication doesn’t require compromise - even in the most demanding conditions.
